Modules

Twelve applications, one account, one address. Each has its own page here with the screens it contains and an explicit statement of what it cannot do.

The suite

A module is a complete application with its own data, its own screens and its own release cycle. It is not a feature area of one big program. What makes the twelve a suite rather than a bundle is the shell underneath them — one account, one organisation, one bill, one place a leaver is removed.

How modules relate to each other

Modules do not share a database and there are no foreign keys between them. Where one needs a fact another owns, it asks over HTTP and keeps a copy. That is why an invoice keeps the customer name it was issued with even if the CRM record is renamed afterwards — the name was a fact at the time, not a live lookup.

A module you have not opened is empty

Enabling a module does not populate it. The first person from your organisation to walk through the door causes it to mirror your organisation and create their account inside it. Until then it holds nothing at all, which is the usual explanation for "I turned it on and it is blank".

Reading a module page

Each module page opens with what the module is for and who it is for, then covers its screens one by one, then states what it does not do. The last part is the one to read during an evaluation — it is written to be findable now rather than discoverable in month four.

Questions

Can we buy one module on its own?

Yes. The Starter plan is two modules and has no base fee. See Billing and plans.

Do modules work if we do not use the others?

Yes. Cross-module reads degrade gracefully — Accounting without CRM simply asks you to type the customer name.

Which module should we start with?

The one that owns your worst weekly workflow. See Pilot.
