Newsletter

Roughly monthly, and only when there is something

No drip sequence, no behavioural triggers, no re-engagement campaign when you stop opening it. Some months nothing is worth sending and nothing gets sent, which is unusual enough to be worth stating.

Newsletter

What actually arrives.

Each issue links to something published on the site. There is no email-only content designed to make the list feel exclusive.

New research

When a paper is published or a sample expands materially — benchmarks, failure modes, pricing, close timing. Always with the sample size and what changed since the last version.

Buyer guides

New or substantially revised guides for people running an evaluation, including the ones that argue against buying.

Corrections

When we get a published figure wrong and restate it. These go to the list rather than being applied quietly, because you may have relied on the earlier number.

Product changes that matter

Not a feature roundup. Changes that alter what the software will or will not do — including the ones that reduce what it does.

What you will never get

  • A drip sequence. Subscribing does not enrol you in a five-part educational series ending in a sales call.
  • Behavioural triggers. We do not send different email because you visited a pricing page, opened a previous message twice, or downloaded something.
  • Re-engagement campaigns. If you stop opening it, we will eventually remove you rather than escalating subject lines.
  • Your address passed to anyone. Not to partners, not to sponsors, not to an events company. There is no arrangement under which this list is shared.
  • Sales email dressed as a newsletter. If we want to sell you something we will say so in a separate message you can ignore.
Some months nothing is worth sending, so nothing gets sent. That is the whole editorial policy for this list.

What happens to your address

Stored for the purpose of sending you the newsletter, and for nothing else. It is not used to build a profile, score you as a lead, or trigger outreach from a person.

Every message has a one-click unsubscribe that works immediately. When you unsubscribe we keep a suppression record containing the minimum needed to make sure we never contact you again — which is a use of your data and is why we mention it rather than describing deletion as absolute.

Delivery runs through SendGrid, which is listed on our subprocessors page. Full detail is in the privacy policy, including your rights under GDPR and US state privacy law.

If you are evaluating us

The newsletter is a poor way to do that. It is intermittent and it links to pages you can simply read now.

Better: read the pages that cost us something. The manufacturing guide that names two competitors to buy instead of us, the directory where we rank fourth, and the benchmarks page showing our weakest workflow at 66% with a bottom quartile well below every median.

If you want a conversation rather than email, ask for a free assessment. That produces a written reply from a person, not a sequence.

Why say all this on a subscribe page

Because “subscribe to our newsletter” means something different at almost every company, and at most of them it means entering a marketing automation system. Stating what this list is and is not takes a paragraph and saves you finding out.

Questions

Common follow-ups.

How often is it sent?
Roughly monthly and irregularly. Some months nothing is worth publishing and nothing gets sent.
Will I get sales email?
Not through this list. If we want to sell you something we will send a separate message you can ignore.
Is there email-only content?
No. Everything linked is published on the site. Email-only content exists to make a list feel exclusive rather than to be useful.
What happens when I unsubscribe?
Immediate, one click. We keep a suppression record with the minimum information needed to make sure we never contact you again.
Do you share the list?
No. Not with partners, sponsors, or event companies. There is no arrangement under which it is shared.

Or just read the pages now.

The newsletter is intermittent and links to things you can read today without giving us an address.
